How Filorga saved my face -- AKA a Venice Film Fest Tale of Midlife Success!

E. Nina Rothe October 8, 2018

Every once in a while, I do look in the mirror and see a tired, sallow face staring back at me, complete with dark under eye circles and sagging skin. It’s not often, but particularly at the end of a jam packed day at a gem-packed film festival like this year’s Venice International Film Festival, it happens.

I mean, take a look at the photo below, and then compare it with the one above and you’ll see what I mean. Below = before my facial, while above = after my visit to the Filorga pop up salon inside the Excelsior Hotel. Not even a selfie with Jake Gyllenhaal could make me smile, or shine.

Loved the #selfieswall part of the exhibit at the #HoteldesBains at @labiennale #VeniceFilmFestival. And yes #JakeGyllenhaal showed up just for me! #worldtravel #exhausted #grumpy #moviestars #filmlocations #deathinVenice #oldiesbutgoodies #venezia75🎬 #selfies

But then I was gifted a mini facial by a colleague who will forever remain on my list of beloveds, and there I am above in the header photo, after just a little mask, some under eye serum and a bit of colored moisturizer. Nice eh?

So here I am at the start of the treatment. With Marzia taking off my existing creams and make up and starting by painting on a mask. I could tell right away that I liked the products by the softness of their consistency and the light, unaggressive scent. I don’t like to put things on my face that smell stronger than my perfume!

Then it was time for some serum, a little of that goes a long way, and the kind Marzia used is called NCTF Intensive. She decided on it after she heard my age. Gulp. Most people do a double take when I say it, casually usually, and she admitted she had considered a hydrating treatment before hearing that “51” number pronounced. I’m still personally convinced I’m in my mid-Thirties. But I digress. The serum was followed by a cream, the NCTF Reverse, and the Filorga Eyes Absolute eye cream with special applicator.

After the treatment part of the mini facial, it was time for a bit of make up. Silvia applied the the Filorga Time-Flash primer, the Flash-Nude Fluid which gives skin a flawless bare-skin effect, and some lip plumping cream, the Nutri-Filler Lips — which felt nice and not tingly like most lip treatments these days. It pays to add that I’m sensitive to nickel in lip products and while I never asked about that before having the lip treatment applied, my mouth felt soft and pleasant, never had any sensitivity.

Walking away with a mini bag filled with products for a week’s treatment was just icing on the cake. I felt so generous after being made to look so pretty, I bought all my friends a round of Bellinis on the terrace of the Excelsior.

Filorga is available online or at select stores like Nordstrom. I highly recommend their products as they are not expensive and very effective.
