Pharrell Williams releases new original song for his Lego animated biopic 'Piece by Piece'

E. Nina Rothe September 14, 2024

The film, directed by Morgan Neville, world premiered at Telluride before screening at TIFF to glowing reviews, and will close this year’s BFI London Film Festival.

Last week, Grammy Award-winning, Academy Award®-nominated musician and filmmaker, philanthropist and Louis Vuitton menswear creative director Pharrell Williams releases his new original song “Piece By Piece,” from the motion picture soundtrack from Focus Features’ highly anticipated animated biopic Piece by Piece directed by Academy-Award® winning director Morgan Neville. The song is one of five original songs included in the animated documentary.

You can listen to “Piece By Piece” here, or check out the song on Spotify below. The new original track was written by Williamsm and performed by Williams and Princess Anne High School Fabulous Marching Cavaliers.

The new original song comes on the heels of Pharrell’s partnership and collaboration with the LEGO® Group on the new Over the Moon set – a space shuttle with a golden canopy and a vibrant jet stream of colors. The LEGO® Over the Moon set features the widest range of minifigure skin tones included in a LEGO® product, with seven in total. If you feel like playing, you can pre-order the set, which will arrive on September 20th, on the Lego site.

Focus Features will release Piece by Piece in US theaters on Friday, October 11th. The film is produced by Pharrell Williams, Mimi Valdés, Caitrin Rogers along with Morgan Neville. It is EP’d by David Lawrence, Shani Saxon, Jill Wilfert and Keith Malone.

Additional voices include Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes, Jay Z and Snoop Dogg, among others.

Here is The Guardian’s glowing review of the film, FYI.
